da dobrowin: Manchester United are closing in on an interim boss, though an update on who their next full-time manager could be at Old Trafford has now emerged.

Manchester United set to announce caretaker appointment

da supremo: Following Ruben Amorim’s acrimonious departure from Manchester United, the Premier League giants appear set to bring in a caretaker boss until the summer, rather than an immediate permanent solution.

News outlets have gone into overdrive, and there is plenty of debate over who should take over from Amorim. By all means, it seems as if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will become the Red Devils’ interim manager, and he may put pen to paper on a contract this week after holding talks over the role.

Michael Carrick has also been sounded out by Manchester United, and it remains to be seen whether he will take on a position in any capacity. Familiar faces are likely to guide the club through a difficult time, generating some buy-in among a support who were fairly divided over Amorim’s performance in charge.

There is a feeling that the Red Devils are back to square one, even if they are still firmly in the mix to secure continental qualification following a series of points picked up under Amorim.

Performance levels haven’t been dreadful by any means, but there was definitely a growing feeling of friction between the management team and key club officials, something that Darren Fletcher will hope to eradicate before the new caretaker arrives in town.

However, question marks hang over who the next full-time Manchester United boss could be, but there may soon be some clarity on that front if recent reports are to be believed.

Roberto De Zerbi dreaming of Man Utd managerial role

According to TEAMtalk, Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi is “dreaming” of replacing Amorim at Manchester United and he would favour a move to Old Trafford over taking on the hotseat at Tottenham Hotspur, who hold a long-standing interest in his services.

Viewing the Red Devils as an attractive environment to demonstrate his capabilities in the dugout, he would be open to taking over this summer as he feels he has taken his current Ligue 1 outfit as far as he can, despite his contract in France running until 2027.

The Brescia native has since gone on to claim 30 wins, seven draws, and 14 losses in Ligue 1, though his exciting style of football is still very much visible in France, as it was on English shores while he was at the Amex Stadium.

With Solskjaer looking likely to remain until the summer, De Zerbi, represented by the same Italian agency as Liverpool’s

Giovanni Leoni, may be the logical next step given his extensive Premier League experience and relative level of success.
